Reviews of LongRun Special

LongRun Special

LRS has been a disappointment - flat over the last 5 months and recently having its worst month ever. It is VERY difficult to trade because most of the stocks are illiquid. Trading at IB, I have had forced buy-ins of shorted stocks, and at other times have waited days for shares to be available to short. This is not a system you could scale up. On the plus side, LRS has a low net market exposure with its large short position and should do relatively well in a selloff. I has a good long term track record, but be prepared to be frustrated. If the developer could apply his stock picking ability to larger cap stocks, his system would be more tradeable

It seems IB is the only place this system can be traded so I went to the trouble of opening an account there but even then, the short shares are often difficult to borrow. And I was forced to cover the shorts, at my own expense a couple of times, in what is called a buy-in (the SEC orders the broker to return the shares) and then pay a commission again to re-short the shares a few days later. There is ZERO communication from the developer which feels really odd. The stocks are thinly traded with large spreads, so getting out in a fast market could be very costly. The system has been in the doldrums for months now, not making anywhere near enough to cover the high monthly fees. It's been a big, expensive disappointment for me.

I have at one point or another been a subscriber to probably a dozen C2 systems since summer 2010. All of them looked good and most had at least a year of trading history. Eventually most of them tripped and started losing money. I think its fair to say that 95 percent of whats for sale on C2 is garbage. LongRun Special, however, stands out as the one system on which I made the most so far. Even with Interactive Brokers there have been cases where I couldnt locate shares for shorting but that more the exception than the rule. Also, sometimes shares become available at a later date, so it pays to keep an eye open. I give the system top scores for out-of-sample consistency.

Previous reviewer's broker unable to find shares to short. I have had no such problem with Interactive Brokers, and am very happy with results achieved in the month I've been following this system. Trades are very infrequent and easily handled manually. System is not suitable for IRAs due to short equity positions taken.

LongRun Special

The numbers look good but unfortunately the trades are impossible in actual trading. This is due to the fact that the developer makes a lot of his profits in not tradable short positions. My broker continuously tells me that the stocks to short are unavailable.

Started about a month ago and have had good results. C2Realism is the only problem. I'm with optionsXpress and don't always get fills, especially on shorts. To compensate I increased my scaling about 30% more than I normally would. Also since I use auto-trading I get about 30 emails a day notifying me of failed fill attempts with auto-sync.
